Therapy for children and teens
I work with children and teens dealing with anxiety, ADHD, learning differences, or stress at school or at home.

How I work with children and teens
The first call is with the parent. After that I meet your child. With younger children I use play and creative activities; with teens, sessions are mostly conversation, with skills to try between sessions. I explain how confidentiality works to both of you at the start.
Before training as a psychotherapist I spent 20 years working with children and youth, including several years as a teacher and work in psychoeducational assessments with autistic and ADHD children and their families. School is where a lot of childhood difficulty shows up, and it is familiar ground.
Fees
$150
per 60-minute session, in person or online. Receipts for extended health benefits. A limited number of reduced-fee spots.
How it starts
- 1A free 15-minute consultation call. You describe what is going on and I explain how I would approach it.
- 2If it makes sense, a first session in person in Peterborough or online anywhere in Ontario.
- 3How often we meet depends on what we are working on, and we review it together.
Questions
- How does it work with children and teens?
- The first call is with the parent. After that I meet your child. With younger children I use play and creative activities; with teens, sessions are mostly conversation. I explain how confidentiality works to both of you at the start.
- Do you see children under 10?
- Ask when you get in touch. The right approach depends on your child's age and what is going on, and the consultation call is the place to work that out.
- Is therapy covered by insurance?
- Most extended health benefits plans cover Registered Psychotherapists up to a yearly amount. You pay for the session, I give you a receipt with my CRPO registration number, and you submit it to your plan.
