About

Sara Tribe

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), MA, MACP, BA. She/her.

Background

I have spent 20 years working with children and youth: as a teacher, in psychoeducational assessments, and supporting neurodiverse kids, including autism, ADHD and behavioural difficulties, and their families. That is where I learned how learning, emotions and everyday demands pile up on a kid, and how much it matters that they feel understood before anyone tries to correct them.

I moved into psychotherapy to do that work directly. I see children, preteens, teens, students, young adults, and women in pregnancy and the postpartum period.

How I work

My main approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): getting clearer on what matters to you and building the flexibility to move toward it when your thoughts and feelings are loud. I bring in CBT and DBT skills, Internal Family Systems, and some emotion-focused work where they fit.

The relationship comes first. Sessions are practical and, often, fun. Therapy does not have to be serious and sad the whole time. A lot of it is building skills in a constructive way, and with kids that is usually playful.
